Suzanne Kirsch
CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES DIRECTOR

Suzanne Kirsch

Suzanne was born in Iqaluit, Nunavut (formerly Frobisher Bay, Northwest Territories) and after her family moved to Alberta she was born again at the Lone Prairie Pioneer Camp when she was 8 years old. Four years later she was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church in Hinton, Alberta. Her encounter with Christ and call into Christian ministry was rooted in the rich spiritual heritage and influence of her family. Her grandparents, who played a significant role in nurturing her passion to serve the Lord, were ministry workers and missionaries to Africa with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.

While studying at Taylor College and Seminary in Edmonton (formerly the North American Baptist College) she renewed her decision to follow Christ and sensed a call to ministry which was later confirmed when she served briefly with Campus Crusade for Christ in Cameroon, Africa when she was 24 years old.

It was at Taylor that Suzanne met Henry and they were married in June 1998 after she graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Education degree. Further studies were completed at Briercrest Seminary in Caronport, Saskatchewan. At the Jasper Place Church of God in Edmonton Suzanne served with her husband as worship leader and discipling of newcomers to the church. Henry was then called to be the Associate Pastor of Emerging Ministries at Northgate Baptist Church, Edmonton. During their five years at Northgate Suzanne joined her husband in ministering to young couples. She also taught toddlers and elementary children in Sunday church programming and was a consultant as needed. A special highlight for her at Northgate was leading and training a team of youth for mission work in Mexicali, Mexico.

In early 2007 the Kirschs were called to serve Calvary Baptist Church in Regina. At Calvary, Suzanne was appointed a deacon to oversee the Church's Christian Education program and was also the Sunday Director of the Children's Program, which involved the training of leaders and workers and the development of the weekly program and curriculum.

Prior to her call into ministry Suzanne's heart was set on being a symphony flautist and music teacher. Her continuing love for music has involved her in leading the various musical aspects of worship in all of the churches in which she has served. For the past eight years, she has been a stay at home mom, a home educator of her children and a self-employed Financial Administrator to small businesses.

Suzanne and Henry have 2 children, Sarai and Caleb.

Suzanne's passion is to see all people (children and adults alike) grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ; that the church will empower "the people of God to relate to one another as if they are family, especially if they are". Dennis B Gurnsey
